Sunday 3rd Oct: Imps v Argyle, guest reporter Elliott’s view

Following on from my own ramblings yesterday, I just wanted to give an airing to this report from a proper Argyle fan, sixteen year old Elliott Varney. Elliott sends us weekly reports via WhatsApp and is a talented young writer who knows his Argyle stuff. Take it away, Elliott..,

Saturday the 2nd October 2021, Lincoln City take on Plymouth Argyle at home at the LNER Stadium. Plymouth argyle go into the match as favourites as they sit in 4th position in the table having only lost 1 game so far this season. Lincoln sit in 17th hoping for a much needed win. As kick off approached both sets of fans found their seats with 750 of the green army were in full voice. In the first half argyle created many chances and defended the Imps best efforts to find a goal. In the 25th minute ryan hardie found the net as skipper joe edwards had a throw in on the right hand side that found hardie who drove into the box and fired the ball home inside the front post and past the keeper. Both teams had chances early on in the second half. However, it was the home side Lincoln who found the equaliser with a ball into the box found Lasse Sorensen as he volleyed the ball past Mike Cooper and into the bottom corner. It was Plymouth Argyle who took the lead again in 74th minute as a corner was cleared but only as far as Jordan Houghton on the edge of the box who hooked the ball back into the box finding centre back Brendan Galloway who volleyed the ball into the top left corner and celebrated in front of the away fans. Lincoln had the last laugh as goal scorere Brendan Galloway gave away a penalty in the 90th minute, Anthony Scully scored the equaliser from the spot as he sent kepper Mike Cooper the wrong way. The game ended with both teams fighting infront of the lincoln main stand as Lincoln players were teasing Plymouth Argyle left wing back Jordan Garrick by not giving him the ball back. As a result of this Garrick pushed one of the Lincoln players to the floor causing players and referees to get involved.
